Sirona was proud to participate in the American Dental Association‘s 12th annual Give Kids A Smile program, which provides free dental services to underserved children across the country. Dentists and industry professionals volunteer their time and services to provide screenings, treatments and education to young patients. Since 2003, the program has provided dental services for nearly 5 million children.

This year, Sirona was on-site to take digital intraoral images at the Traviss Career Center (Lakeland, Fla.), which hosts Give Kids A Smile for the Polk County Dental Association. Our own Mary Ann Rupertus and John Pauley have been participating in the program since 2011.

This year 48 volunteers, including four pediatric dentists, treated 67 children, providing a total of $23,000 in free dental services, not including the complimentary follow up care many of the children will receive. Throughout the day, the Sirona team took 25 panoramic images and 39 sets of bitewings.

“Sirona plays a very important role at this event. Their team speeds up the process by taking multiple images at a time and they make sure the children are comfortable,” said Susan Rexroat, Dental Assisting Program at Traviss Career Center.  “We appreciate their time, and the dentists are impressed they come every year to assist us.”
